Professional Development Workshops - 4 Hr

InstyleSwimming Australia has introduced a 4 hour Professional Development Workshop that will help teachers marry instructor courses in learn to swim and junior instructor (bronze certificate) courses.

During this workshop you will given the tools skills and knowledge to analyse the stroke, break it down into simple components enabling you to write easy to follow progressions for all strokes.

In turn this will help you write a lesson plan that teaches each component of the stroke properly, with the drills and skills to impart confidence to all participants through a fun and appropriate learning environment.

During this workshop DVDs of “real” lessons and children making mistakes will be shown enabling participants to analyse each scenario and discuss ways in which to correct the faults using drills and/or equipment.

The importance of understanding and task analysing each stroke will be discussed in detail thus enhancing the participant’s ability to know the skill level of their client(s) to move them through each progression of the stroke.

The importance of structuring all lesson plans with good body position at all times no matter the stage of the client’s ability

For example during:

• Water confidence class
• Kicking phase in a stroke
• Introducing blowing bubbles
• introducing any new skills in any lesson

The workshop will be run by Chris Spencer and Narelle Simpson and professional development points will be issued for attendance at the workshop.
